Nominate someone to ride our first waves
We’re getting very close to our public opening and we can’t wait to share the buzz of surfing with as many people as possible. We truly believe that surfing is for everybody and we want our opening line-up to recognise this, which is why we need your help.
Be part of our opening line-up
We are often asked who is going to ride the first public waves at The Wave and most people assume it will be Founder, Nick Hounsfield, but he’s always said it won’t be him.
The Wave is about different people coming together to experience the joy of surfing, to connect with themselves and each other, and to have a shed load of fun, whatever their age, background or ability. It’s about more than the individual. We want to celebrate this by inviting you to nominate inspiring people who deserve to be in that first surfing session.
Ordinary people doing extraordinary things
We're looking for ordinary people that have done extraordinary things, everyday heroes that have overcome adversity, unassuming individuals who’ve achieved amazing feats.
We're asking for you to tell us who these people may be and why. We will then choose a group to join our brilliant Crowdfunders in the opening line up.
We looking for surfers and non-surfers - no experience needed, just the desire to have a go!
The winning individuals will be invited to a special opening wave event where, along with our Crowdfunders, they’ll get the chance to enjoy our very first waves.
Whether their passion in life is surfing, or they’ve never stepped on a board before, we'll make sure they have the best time surfing those first waves.
We want to hear from you
So, we want to hear from you. Whoever you nominate, they need to be available to come to The Wave towards the end of October and be happy to take part in our fun opening session and have their photograph taken. Simply fill in the form below to make your nomination - or post a short video on social media, tagging @thewave with the hashtag #FindYourWave, explaining who you are suggesting and why.
Submit a nomination
If you’d like to nominate an individual or organisation submit their details here. The closing date for nominations is 30 September 2019.
Due to the high volume of interest in the project, we will only contact successful candidates.
