We know that a lot of you have got in touch about your surfs which were cancelled during closure. We are doing all we can behind the scenes to answer the messages and DMs that we have received, and there may be a bit of a delay in replying. We are not ignoring you - please bear with us! The team managed to pull out all the stops to run the eagerly anticipated English Para Surfing Open competition this week (2-3 July). We couldn’t imagine a better way to mark our reopening! The competition is without a doubt an absolute highlight in our calendar, with athletes travelling from as far afield as California to take part. This year’s event delivered in bucket loads - an incredible two days of sunshine, waves, high-performance surfing and a wonderfully welcoming vibe.

The Wave CEO Julian Topham said:

“This competition totally taps into our core belief that the joy of surfing should be open to all.  There is a new breed of highly dedicated professional surfers, ready to take on the waves and each other. It was a fabulous event as ever.  The original vision of founder Nick Hounsfield was to build accessibility into The Wave, with adaptive surfers helping with the design. It was wonderful to be able to see this being used to the max during the two days. It felt so fitting that we managed to run this hugely positive event just after we opened again."
