Your Experience/Ability
Experience of surf coaching or lifeguard isn’t strictly necessary, but you will need to be able to successfully complete a timed swim of 400m in 7.5 minutes and for new coaches, you must be able to surf our Intermediate wave both front and backhand.

ISA Level 2 Coaching Course & Role
We are interested in hiring coaches who have a few seasons under their belt that aspire to achieve this next level of coaching award. Following this training, the new Level 2 coaches will not only deliver exceptional beginner lessons but will quickly be trained up to deliver some of our more advanced coaching products too.

Since 2021 we have been providing future (and current) Wavemakers the opportunity to become qualified Surf Coaches and Lifeguards by running in-house training courses.
Training to be a surf coach or lifeguard with The Wave gains you an internationally recognised qualification without the upfront costs you would incur elsewhere and a job for the season too!
The course takes place between The Wave site and the coast.
