Our Wavegarden Cove technology

About

Our 200m state-of-the-art surfing lake is powered by Wavegarden's Cove technology to deliver an unrivalled and uncrowded inland surf experience suitable for everyone, from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals.

What is special about Wavegarden technology?

Wavegarden’s patented wave making system can generate up to 1,000 quality waves per hour, ranging from 50cm (1.7ft) to almost 2m (6.5ft) in height.

It is made up of a series of modules that move in a harmonious sequence to produce perfect waves, whilst also continually injecting energy as they move forward. The length of rides at The Wave Bristol range from 11 to 15 seconds. The thing that really excites us about the Wavegarden Cove technology is that wave shape and size can be changed at the touch of a button, meaning there really is something for surfers of all ages and abilities.

This groundbreaking technology replicates the exact way that water moves in ocean ground swells and there are no secondary waves that can negatively affect the quality of subsequent waves.

Build update - our waves, lake and technology

On an ordinary day, when we open, we’ll have three different waves rolling at any one time. The sets are every 10 seconds and range from gentler waves for beginners to larger waves for expert surfers. A ten second power on ride is a long wave for the vast majority of people here in the UK.
