2026 English National Surfing Championships: Thursday 29th October at The Wave

The 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships is the first edition of the event to be held in a UK wave pool. The field includes surfers from across England, as well as surfers with English heritage who are based abroad. Every competitor has qualified for the contest.

How the contest works

A wave pool puts every surfer on the same settings, so there is little room for error and the judging is as important as the manoeuvres. The settings will progress as the contest does:

  • Quarterfinals: Advanced Plus
  • Semifinals: Expert Turns
  • Finals: Expert Plus

Surfers will ride lefts and rights, and their scores will combine to establish rankings.

King and Queen of the Barrels

The day also includes a barrel riding showdown, the King and Queen of the Barrels. Any U14 English surfer can enter. It gives surfers outside the main draw a chance to be seen.

Spectating

Spectators are welcome throughout the day. The pool will open to the public for surfs during contest breaks. Surfing starts at approximately 10am and finishes around 6pm.

The event falls in October half term. On site there is a playground, skate ramps, games, sauna and café.
