Red Bull Sessions rolled into The Wave on Friday 16 October. This wasn't a contest. No heats, no pressure, just jam sessions where anyone surfing at intermediate level or above got to share the water with some of the best British surfers.
How the day went
Sign-up was just £10, which got you a one-hour session, food and a drink voucher. Check-in opened at 1pm, and the waves got bigger as the afternoon went on: Intermediate at 2pm, Advanced at 3pm, Advanced Plus at 4pm, Expert Barrels at 5pm and Expert Turns at 6pm.
Every hour, the pros paddled out with everyone else. No roped-off contest zone, just a chance to sit in the line-up and pick up a thing or two from some of the best.
Some of the top British surfers were out there: Lila Skinner, Malakai Hagley, Zoe Smith and Isaac Friend. Malakai's been blowing minds with his big-wave surfing at Mullaghmore in Ireland. Zoe, para surfer and ISA World Champion, has been putting in the hours training here at The Wave. And Isaac is surfing every single day of 2026 for Children in Need – the Red Bull Session was his surf 289 of 365.
The top surfers still had plenty in the tank for the Expression Session at 7pm, when the pool switched to Mega Turns with prizes up for grabs.
MUSIC AND THE AFTER PARTY
Sunset Social Club were on the decks from 2pm, with tracks that kept the energy flowing right through every session. Spectators got in free, so plenty of people came down just to hang out and watch. Once the last waves rolled through, it was time for the BBQ and after party.
Thank you
Big thanks to everyone who came down, whether you were surfing, watching or just there for the music.
Thanks to Red Bull, Sunset Social Club and our Wavemakers and Surf Ops team for an epic day of surf, music and community.
See you in the water.
