On Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd June, Surfing England brought its Para Surfing Roadshow to The Wave for two days of adaptive surfing. The Wave was built to be an accessible place for everyone, so it's exactly the kind of event we love hosting.
Surfing England runs the roadshow, and Saltrock is the headline sponsor. Specifically, it's a nationwide series of inclusive surf sessions for people with physical disabilities and visual impairments. Riders travelled from across the region to take part, many of them tried surfing for the very first time.
What made these two days special
Surfers of all abilities paddled out and caught waves over the two sessions. Expert coaches and adaptive equipment supported them throughout. Meanwhile, ITV News visited Bristol to cover the sessions. Their report captured exactly what the roadshow set out to do: give riders the confidence to push past what they thought was possible, one wave at a time.

Why this matters to us
We don't set inclusion aside for a single event each year, it sits at the heart of why The Wave exists. In fact, this is the third year Saltrock has backed the roadshow, and it keeps growing. As a result, each stop on the 2026 tour, from Bournemouth to Newquay, welcomes new surfers into the sport.

The Surfing England Para Surfing Roadshow have more dates are planned across the rest of 2026. Anyone aged 8 and above can take part, and you don't need any prior surfing experience. However, places fill quickly, so we'd recommend booking early. You'll find details of upcoming stops on Surfing England's website.
Adaptive surfers are always welcome at The Wave, so if you'd like to book a session you will just need to fill out a self assessment form.
